Description

Hope House, a 16-bed home, is located in Arcola. We truly enjoy Arcola’s unique, small town charm with its many small stores, shops, Amish restaurants, its annual Broomcorn and Raggedy Ann and Andy festivals, and beautiful Rockome Gardens. With so much offered in this small community, we always have several fun activities from which to choose. Hope House was established in 1988, and many of the people who currently live at Hope House moved in when it first opened. We drive the short distance to Charleston to take advantage of the numerous day training programs offered in that community. We also travel the thirty miles or so to Champaign-Urbana where we enjoy shopping, dining, and the many cultural and sporting events that the University of Illinois offers. We are happy to talk with anyone about our beloved Illini sports teams! Almost every Thursday evening many of us travel a short distance to another small town to play bingo. This is usually the highlight of our week and something that we all look forward to. We get excited when someone in our Hope House family wins. Hope House’s major social event of the year is the Christmas party. Our friends and family, as well as employees and their families join us to for the annual event of exchanging gifts, singing seasonal carols, and of course eating some great food. Hope House is proud of having many long-term employees, with some current employees providing supports and services for the past ten to fifteen years. We enjoy each other, and we enjoy our home and community. We are truly a family which has fostered strong bonds and relationships among all the persons living in the home and our supportive staff
